It's almost funny its so poorly written but I would take back the 30 minutes I spent reading it if I could. There is very little information in it, I don't think I will buy another book that was self published through Amazon again. This "author" has no medical or scientific background, she is just someone whose son benefited from red light therapy. WOW its painfully horrible.

This is the second time I have purchased this program. The first was when it was originally released a few years ago on cassette, and it won the Parents Choice Award (which is why I got it). It is faithful to the book, and the music is just amazing, bringing scenes to life and various themes are used to identify characters. Dorothy is wonderful, and thank God she doesn't do a Judy Garland impersonation like another OZ radio drama I heard by another company. The Lion does NOT do Bert Lahr as another reviewer here has stated (I didn't hear one "put 'em up" in the entire show:) and the Scarecrow really does sound like there is straw in his throat (this voice gives him real character and sets him apart - I think a normal voiced actor would not get the imagery across - we can't see him, like we do int he movie). The Tin Man was also a fun character, with his squeaky voice. The Wicked Witch of the West is not the cackling hag from the movie, but is played more like she is in the book (she is only in one chapter in the book and is not as large a role as in the movie), a mean old woman.What is good here is that all the major voices are very distinctive and you won't find yourself wondering who is who when the story takes off.Dorothy's entrance into Munchkinland is a beautiful moment in the show, with the music and chorus painting a magical picture, and the entrance into the Emerald City is spectacular. It's a fun production, kids will love it (and adults too).

All I know is the movie. The performance is good. The mixing is great. Buy it for a kid that loves the movie.

Since there seem to be reviews for two totally different products mixed together here, this review is for the 2 CD Radio Dramatization of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.We sat down and listened to this as a family during lunch a couple of days in a row (myself, my 5 year old daughter, and my sons ages 7 to 13). We all thoroughly enjoyed this presentation. As has been mentioned in other reviews, the story is told mostly through the dialogue, with different people voicing each character. The voices are all distinctive and we had no problem keeping track of who was who.It has been a few years since I read the book, but this did appear to follow the storyline fairly faithfully. For people who are only familiar with the movie, you do need to realize that the movie is not very faithful to the book.The music and background noises helped to move the story along and we found them to be a terrific addition. The balloon rising and floating off without Dorothy, for instance... with the music, you could almost see it float away.We truly enjoyed this production.My only complaint is the packaging. Instead of a solid case of any type, the CDs were in paper sleeves, in a cardboard envelope with styrofoam to hold it in place. For the price, though, the lack of a jewel case is acceptable.

First off, I'm as confused and frustrated as everyone else about Amazon's choice to merge reviews of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: A Radio Dramatization with the old Kindle edition (I assume this comes from recycling ASN's). That said, this review is for the former.This dramatization adheres to a stage feel, adapting the book to the theatre rather than reading lines like an audiobook. For me, the experience was more enjoyable as actors were solidly in their roles, lines were delivered commandingly, and the experience felt immersive. If, on the other hand, you prefer traditional line-led audiobooks, I'm hesitant to recommend this recording as the style may feel halted and disingenuous to you.In either case, Dorothy's journey to see the Wonderful Wizard of Oz is so indelibly connected to the classic movie that a word of warning comes next. This play follows the original 1900 book, not the 1902 stage show on which the movie was platformed. And while it is not a line-by-line perfect rendition of its source material, it is most certainly not a Hollywood musical. The difference here is a darker, more dangerous Oz in which the perils of the journey are reflective of Baum's political intent in penning it.In sum, I found it a delightfully well done edition of the story with a well-selected cast, vibrant effects, and a clean recording.

Once again I have been overwhelmed by the incredible talent of Jerry Robbins and the Colonial Radio Theatre On The Air. It never ceases to amaze me how diverse their repertoire is. Historically accurate stories, children's stories, adventure stories, mystery stories, horror stories, etc! This is of course is the infectious story by L. Frank Baum about a little Kansas bred girl named Dorothy and the incredible and fantastic world she and her dog Toto visit via a ride from a tornado.Please be warned this is not an radio dramatization of the movie starring Judy Garland. This is a first rate adaptation of the first in the series of OZ books. If I had to sum it up in one word I'd use the word innocent. The style of the drama is as the book is which is lighthearted, innocent, and just plain sweet. The acting is excellent and very warm-hearted and the pacing of the story is excellent along with the direction. The musical score is very much appropriate and you can almost see the characters in its notes. The cast is excellent from Dorothy right to the Wizard.If you have children and want to teach them to use their imagination or will be going on a long road trip take the OZ set by Jerry Robbins & the Colonial Radio Theatre and prepare to be transported back to the emerald city along with the inhabitants of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

I liked it, but I couldn't say that I loved it. It's a good beginners guide to get to know this religion, very informative too but I just didn't really like the style of how this book is written. It's basically small chapters with an answer to chapter's headline question and everytime a question pops into my mind I go to google for an explanation. Except that it is very informative and actually I would recommend this book for everyone, not only for those who are interested in this religion, because these days there are a lot of people asocciate bad people with islam because of the religion but this book would let them know what is is about and that religion itself doesn't have anything to do with these people.

I am not a Muslim but it was nice learn this religion. I had very little understanding on Islam and this book has explained in detail about Islam and I now understand their faith. I am challenged by how Islam faith give great importance on prayers. I understand Islam is a peaceful religion and we should not judge Muslims by the way terrorist behave. I am enlightened on this, thanks to the author.

For somebody who has no Islamic background and much knowledge, this book was helpful in teaching me about the Islamic culture. The media today gives Islam a horrible reputation but it is important to understand the other side, an entirely new perspective. While I wish the book explained the religion's history a bit more, I did find the rituals and practices were written in an interesting and easy to understand way. This is a cool read if you want to learn something new.

Being a complete beginner with no prior knowledge of Islam, I learned many things from this book. It covers a lot of different topics, but what I found most interesting was the similarities between the Bible and Quran, in the Prophets section of the book. Would definitely recommend to beginners or people interested in Islam. It's not too in-depth, which makes it perfect for this reason. Other than occasional spelling and grammar mistakes, it's a good read.

It is a brief but very informative read and the author illustrates so many different aspects of their practices. A good read for those who are looking to further their understanding with an open mind.

Very bad grammar and very poorly written. The context is also very poor and tries to mention about everything with no depth at all. It is hard to understand the text because of so many grammar mistakes.

I can't say enough about these books. They are sturdy, just the right size and much like reading your old comic books.

Nothing beats these classic Comics by Carl Barks. His work is phenomenal for anything Donald Duck. Highly recommend!

I grew up with peanut butter stains on my large kitchen table Carl Barks (hardback) edition. What I did not realize was that this WONDERFUL collection had in some degree of racism. I would be attentive is sharing this with children to point out that MEXICANS do not all talk funny, look terrible and sleep most of the day. I would also question a few other things ... The only way a pilot can safely master the aircraft when flying in the clouds is to have complete confidence in his/her instrument scanning skills. That is how I developed the title of my book, "Teaching Confidence in the Clouds". I personally witnessed the value in using desktop flight simulators to hone these skills in my accelerated instrument training program using both the FAA approved PCATD and BATD units. My wish is for the reader to not only go on to earn the instrument rating with the use of the desktop flight simulator, but to learn some tips on instrument flying that I have included in this book.

In September 2011 Tom Gilmore was awarded the title of Master Instructor Emeritus for his years of commitment to excellence, professional growth and service to the aviation community. There had only been eleven flight instructors worldwide that had earned this distinction. He owned and operated his own FAA and VA approved flight school in Detroit, Michigan for nine years and taught ground school classes in the local area. He often traveled to his clients location to provide personalized flight training throughout the country. This book provides some interesting stories about some of the more interesting flight clients that he training along with a synopsis of some of the problems they overcame during the training to become instrument rated.

I am a retired commercial pilot of 36 years and despite being an airline training captain (check airman) I learned a lot from this book. The author presents an interesting historical review of the art of instrument flying and the interesting discussions of "needle-ball-and-airspeed" is eye-opening for today's pilots with their glass cockpits and latest gadgetry that facilitates instrument flight. Teaching Confidence in the Clouds is a must read for every pilot, particularly the student pilot, and probably should be read even before any training begins. The book is both informative and entertaining. The very well-written glossary alone is worth the price of the book. This is a book that should be an integral part of every aviation training organization. Everything was OK.

Tom Gilmore was my 10-day instrument instructor 8 years ago and has written a book that is as good as his in-person instruction. I couldn't believe he could take me from zero to instrument rated in just over a week, but not only did he do that, he did it in less time than anticipated. This book is a great review of some of what we did. Our work with the flight simulator every day was invaluable to my instruction. Tom can't teach everyone to fly instruments, but now everyone can get the benefit of his experience by reading this. Great book.

What a great idea for a book, and getting kids interested in aviation, as well as teaching Sim flies the basics need to be a proficient pilot in the Sim. I'm going to recommend this to my Sim buddies as they will want to add this to their collections. This would make for a great holiday gift idea for someone who is a Flight Sim Buff. Cool Book!

This guide is a long time in coming! I have been a flight instructor for over 20 years, and have given over 10,000 hours of instrument flight instruction. Flight simulators and training devices are a great educational tool if properly utilized and operated. Mr. Gilmore has outdone himself in providing some great insight and techniques in getting the most out of these wonderful tools. This should be a must read for the serious instrument instructor who wants to give his students the best value in simulated instrument training using sims and FTD's.

If you are in the business of convincing someone in the legal field this is the one to have. Scalia and Garner offer concise, articulate, reasoned discussions on reading and interpreting law. Very practical examples help drive home the theories. The writing style is very accessible and humorous in many places. This is not some stuffy, dense, legalistic tome. They keep it real. No matter one's political inclinations, this book will impress. Few people have the legal experience of these two authors. Justice Scalia's experience and background are well known. Perhaps more so now that he has had the extensive tributes following his recent death. Bryan Garner, the co-author, is also well credentialed and quite well thought of due to his role as the lead editor for "Black's Law Dictionary" of legal terms. The two men masterfully break down statutory application principles and explain their analysis. While these two legal experts agree on most principles, they do not feel obliged to be in lock step with one another on their legal and writing philosophies. This adds to the book's charm and effectiveness, as the differing viewpoints are discussed and celebrated.

I'm not an attorney, but when my daughter in law recently graduated from law school, I thought this might be an appropriate gift. I work with a number of young lawyers and asked for their opinions. Apparently Justice Scalia is either greatly admired or looked down upon by lawyers. There are very few in the "middle." But whether they were pro or con, those who read the book commented that they learned something from it and thought it would be a good gift. Happily, she passed the bar exam, joined a good law firm, and will be sworn in next week.

This book is a must for law school. I use it all the time, both for school and internships. I noticed the Justice Department recently cited this in a brief for the Clean Air Act case in the D.C. Circuit.

This is by far the best contribution of Justice Antonin Scalia. This book has answers to questions about interpretation. If you don't know how to read a text, because there may be more than one possible logical meaning, this book will provide the answer. Nobody teaches you this at law school.

Very detailed and instructive. The canons of interpretation listed here are extensive. The humor and intelligence of the authors make it an interesting read.

She (my daughter) was ecstatic over getting this and another book for Christmas. She's graduating from Harvard Law School this year and Antonin Scalia was one of our best Supreme Court judges ever that lived. So sad that he passed. This is a wonderful book that he and B Garner together wrote that that benefits many Law students! Well worth the money! Prime shipping a definite plus!
