Wow, what an impactful and insightful business book. I have read this author’s works before which were good but this one is his best. The way he bridges the current/legacy outsourcing model to the new digital world is very eye-opening. Mr. Lange leaves nothing untouched on his visions of building a strong digital delivery environment, strong digital agreement and a strong digital workforce. This new digital world is not just replacing the word ‘FTE’ in your existing outsourcing structure with the word ‘ROBOT’!!! Mr. Lange defines how digital will blend throughout the entire delivery model - from digital technologies, to contractual structures, down to even relationships. I have been in the outsourcing business my entire life and I wish all parties would read this, especially the Lawyers and the hot shot 3rd Party Advisors!!!

In Selling Outsourcing Services in the Digital Age, Mr. Lange builds upon the framework established in his prior book, highlighting the rapid changes taking place in the outsourcing delivery model, including robotic process automation and artificial intelligence. As we move toward a hybrid workforce of robots and humans (cue Terminator music), the legacy outsourcing agreement must be amended accordingly…which is no small feat. As in his first book, Mr. Lange manages to convey complex information in digestible nuggets that are easy to understand and apply. His writing is simultaneously humorous, thoughtful, and no-nonsense, a style that is often lacking in other business books, and his expertise negotiating complex outsourcing agreements is undeniable. I especially enjoyed his discussion of data breaches and the somewhat controversial GDPR legislation. This book is a must-read for anyone in the outsourcing industry.
