That we will be better, but that simply isn't nothing more than a lie of comfort. This book is truly profound. It will make you think. It will make you conduct self-analysis, and if you are bold enough to be ready, it will guide you to waters of redemption that is found no other place but within you, as this read will show you. Reading, I couldn't help but think of past relationships, one in which I was engaged, and how much I gave and gave and gave of myself until the point of emptiness when you begin to question yourself. You begin to question your worth. You begin to say maybe if I had done this or said that, because you think the crumbling of the illusion was the result of your inadequacy. I am trying my best to not give away the essence of this book. I will simply end this by saying, get this book. If not for yourself, then for someone that you care about and that needs to be reminded that they are enough even cloaked inside their imperfections. Someone that needs to be reminded that pure and true love is like a fruit tree. Unless that tree bears fruit, it cannot supply anyone with needed nutrients. You have to bear fruit before you can supply anyone with fruit. Pure and true love starts at home. It starts with the self, and this book lays that out so beautifully.
Very early in the book a different perspective on the concept of happiness is proposed. Here is a quote: “We live with a vision of the world we have not experienced but have told ourselves that’s how we should interpret it. This interpretation is done, every second, by contrasting our real-life experiences with our beliefs and values, and the meaning and rules we have for each of them. Match them, and we have real happinessâ€. This is not a new idea. The book brings a new way to interpret it. This quote implies that the way we have been conceptualizing happiness is not real. "Real happiness" is NOT smiles, it's wisdom, strength and peace. The strength to avoid falling victim to our selfish voice. The wisdom to see both the divine and malevolent potential in us and others and accepting it. Peace is what we evolve into once we change perspectives. Typically from a self-centered to a service-oriented towards us and others once we realize we all have both the divine and malevolent potentials.Another wonderful quote “loving yourself is the least selfish thing you will ever doâ€. Something we typically don't have a good understanding of. Loving yourself is NOT getting what you want at all times and bending the universe to get it. Loving yourself is a moral responsibility because if you don't, you create chaos in your life and everyone around you.
I think I really identified myself. It gives awareness for who is finding what life is really about and confirmation for the who already is in that path. This last past year I've been questioning myself and searching inside me for what I really want to feel for myself. Only ME! I'm so glad I came across this book, cause now it reaffirms my thoughts, feelings and beliefs!!
